"Sixty Seven Year Old Charged with Selling Cocaine"

On September 25th Franklin Barnell Beck (67), of Dahlonega, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and a previous outstanding warrant for the sale of cocaine.

The investigation began when investigators conducted a covert operation, where they purchased a quantity of cocaine from Beck. Investigators purchased the cocaine from Beck while he was out on bond for a previous arrest by Lumpkin County Investigators for illegally possessing prescription medication.

On September 25th, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office investigators from the Narcotics and Burglary Section and the Appalachian Drug Task Force, along with Canine Deputies, searched the home of Franklin Beck on Andy’s Circle. There they located thirty individual plastic bags of cocaine, individually packaged marijuana, a jar of marijuana seeds, and two marijuana plants.

Along with the narcotics investigators located $1266.00 cash and records of drug transactions, which listed the names of the people who had purchased the illegal narcotics and the amount of money they now owed. Further investigation revealed that Beck had been selling narcotics from as far south as Cumming, Georgia and as far north as Helen, Georgia.

There will probably be some who will read about this in the paper who know there name was on the list. If we haven’t already visited them, then they should be expecting a knock at their door.

Photographs of the some of the narcotics and seized funds are shown below.
