A reported stabbing incident and
theft attempt was reported at approximately 11:00 p.m. on May 14th.
The incident occurred at Clay Creek Falls Rd at Clay Creek Falls when
the victim, Mr. Jim Hale, and a female, Ms. Tammy Arnold, were
standing next to a motorcycle when someone in a vehicle stopped to ask
if everything was o.k. The vehicle then drove down the road and
appeared to stop. A short time later, as the female sat on the
motorcycle, a white male, later identified as Dorsey Douglas Sullens
Jr (37), came running up, pushed Hale to the ground and hopped on the
back of the motorcycle. Sullens reportedly reached around the female
and was attempting to throw her from the motorcycle when Hale came to
her aid. Hale pulled Sullens from the motorcycle and a struggle
ensued. Hale pulled out his handgun and controlled Sullens until
deputies arrived.
At some point during the altercation
Sullens had stabbed Hale in the back with a knife. Hale’s injuries
were minor but he was transported to Chestatee Regional for treatment.
An investigator responded to the scene and located the knife used in
the attack as well as other evidence pertinent to the case.
A Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office
Crime Scene Technician examined the knife in the Criminal
Investigations Division Lab and swabbed the knife blade for blood
(DNA). This swab will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation
Crime Lab for comparison to the victim’s DNA.
Sullens was arrested and charged
with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Attempt to Commit Theft By
Taking. Sullens is being held at the Lumpkin County Detention Center.
