"Students Arrested for Stealing Teacher’s
Vehicle"
Lumpkin County High School students Larry L. Lowman (17), Mikel T.
Hansen (17), and an unnamed sixteen year old juvenile, were arrested and
charged with the theft of a teacher’s vehicle from the Mountain
Education Center.
The investigation began on December 3rd, at approximately
9:00 p.m. when deputies responded to the Mountain Education Center in
reference to a stolen vehicle. A teacher at the center reported someone
had stolen his 1988 Dodge Caravan while he was teaching inside the
center.
The following morning Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office
investigators, from the Narcotics and Burglary Section, developed leads
on the case and located the stolen vehicle on Guy Jarrard Rd. Crime
Scene Technicians responded to the scene and processed the vehicle for
evidence. The vehicle had only minimal damage and investigators returned
it directly to the teacher.
The suspects had apparently taken the vehicle as a prank but it’s
no joking matter now that each is facing a potential criminal sentence
for the act.
