On October 11th, 2007 Prudence Nester (36), was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine. Her three children aged ten, eight, and six, were turned over to the care of another family member by the Department of Family and Children Services.

The investigation began when investigators received a tip from a concerned citizen that marijuana was growing at a home on Stables Rd. Investigators drove to the residence, located at 170 Stables Rd, and attempted to make contact with the occupant. No one was at the residence but investigators observed a marijuana plant growing outside. Investigators secured the home and obtained a search warrant. After obtaining the search warrant, investigators searched the residence and located another marijuana plant from which the leaves had been removed. The leaves from the plant were located in the suspect’s bedroom. Also located was a smoking device containing suspected methamphetamine residue.

While investigators were executing the search warrant, Nester, arrived at the residence and was placed under arrest. On October 12th, 2007 Nester was released from the Lumpkin County Detention Center on $20,100 bond.
